Subway Cup Grand Final-CONGRATULATIONS OAKDALE

They were very much considered the underdog, but Health and Life Oakdale have claimed the 2009 Subway Cup defeating hot favourites ETSA Contax 41-55 at ETSA Park tonight.
From the first whistle Oakdale came out fighting, it was evident they were aware of the battle they had on their hands and they fought every clash with determination and spirit, leading at every change and essentially stealing any chance of Contax becoming back to back premiers.
Full credit must be given to Contax shooting efforts, but the strength of Oakdale’s defensive line up was just too strong.
Turnovers were plenty enabling Oakdale to quickly run away with the score, leaving Oakdale coach Megan Carter ecstatic.
Both line ups, full of talent some ex elite players some budding superstars have had stellar seasons and should be very proud of their achievements. One thing is for sure, it was always going to be a crowd-entertaining match and attendees tonight certainly weren’t disappointed.
The club will now celebrate the perfect week, a grand final victory and a $5,000 cheque from Subway after also claming the Subway Cash Grab this week.
In the reserve competition held before hand, it was the Adelaide Cougars Netball Club that took home the trophy defeating Cheerio Eagles Netball Club.
The Subway Cup continues to grow with the competition becoming more competitive each year.
Congratulations to all teams that made it to the grand final.
